A first mushroom grow, in a box ready to give

A Christmas gift that is still alive in January. The Gift Box holds everything needed to grow real mushrooms at home, with no pressure cooker, no lab and no experience: a pre-sterilized all-in-one bag, a syringe of live mycelium of the species you choose from more than 50 gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, and the sterile material for inoculation. There is a QR code on the box: scan it and the video tutorial walks the person step by step, from the first injection to the harvest.

It is built for someone who has never grown anything. No substrate to prepare, no grain to weigh, nothing to sterilize: open the box, watch the video, inject the mycelium and let nature do the rest.

What is in the box

  • Sterilized all-in-one bag: grain and substrate already hydrated, sterilized and layered in a single bag, with a gas-exchange filter and a self-healing injection port. No preparation: inoculate straight through the port.
  • 10 ml liquid culture syringe with live mycelium of the chosen species, produced in our laboratory in Italy.
  • One sterile single-use needle.
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol pad to disinfect the port before inoculation.
  • One pair of nitrile gloves.
  • QR code on the box linking to the full video tutorial, from unboxing to first harvest.

How it works, in five steps

  1. Put on the gloves and clean the injection port with the alcohol pad.
  2. Fit the needle to the syringe and inject the mycelium through the self-healing port. The bag stays sealed: no airborne contamination.
  3. Leave the bag in a dark place at room temperature. Over a few weeks the white mycelium colonizes the grain first, then the whole substrate.
  4. When the bag is fully white, cut it as shown in the video, move it to indirect light and mist with water every day.
  5. Harvest when the caps open. The bag can give more than one flush.

Timing depends on the species and on room temperature: oysters and pioppino are the fastest, shiitake and reishi ask for more patience. The video tutorial explains what to expect at each stage.

Choose your mushroom

Select the mushroom in the “Fungo scelto” picker on this page before adding to cart. The full list is below.

Species marked ★ are the ones we recommend for a first grow: they fruit well in the all-in-one bag and forgive small mistakes. The others are for people who want to experiment or already have some experience.

Why give it

  • A gift you live through: weeks of waiting, the mycelium advancing, the first mushroom appearing. It does not end on December 25th.
  • Zero equipment. Everything needed is in the box; the rest is a dark corner and a spray bottle.
  • Personal: you pick the mushroom to match the person. Lion's mane for the cook, pink oyster for the one who wants to be surprised, reishi for the wellness-minded.
  • Backed by a video tutorial and an Italian laboratory that answers questions.

Shipping and details
